In today’s world of dynamic competition and the race to success, life skills are a significant part of student development. The University Grant Commission (UGC) has taken steps to ensure integration of life skills into the curricula of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The UGC has named this program the “Jeevan Kaushal Program” that aims to foster academic excellence as well as professional development.

In line with this, the team at Habbinson International has developed a comprehensive curriculum which provides life skills training to undergraduate students studying in the HEIs of Pune. Habbinson recognized that students need abilities to manage their personal and professional paths effectively and develop themselves holistically to lead a successful life.

The Importance of Life Skills

The World Health Organization (WHO) defines life skills as “the abilities for adaptive and positive behaviour that enable individuals to deal effectively with the demands and challenges of everyday life.” UNICEF has also recognized life skills as a behavioural development approach that balances knowledge, attitudes, and skills.

Habbinson looks to drive these competencies into the education system so that students of today are not only technically proficient but also equipped to navigate life and its complexities.

India’s New Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) has further emphasized this approach and advocates for a multidisciplinary and value-based education system. Along with the UGC’s Jeevan Kaushal program, the government encourages active participation from both sides – the students and the faculty – and affirms that faculty will not only teach the students these life skills, but also act as mentors.

Habbinson International’s Role

At Habbinson, expert trainers act as just those mentors and guides who impart knowledge and facilitate excellence in students. Each professional has a background of several years of inspiring and guiding humans into a directive path of leadership, interconnected with effective communication, human values and professional preparedness.

Trained by the CEO and founder of Habbinson, Adnan Siddiqui, the Learning and Development team drives each individual student to transform his or her thoughts and actions, and makes sure that the student develops into the best version of themselves – guaranteeing triumph over all aspects of life.

What Skills Does Habbinson Impart to Students?

Communication: The Fundamental Stone

Right from the beginning, humans have evolved in their ways of communication. In today’s ever-changing world of technological advancement, the need of building relationships has never been higher. Habbinson focuses on upholding verbal as well as non-verbal communication in the best possible ways – by reinforcing the power of public speaking and group conversations.

Leadership: The Path of Professional Life

A major result of higher education should be to ensure students’ preparedness for the job market. Habbinson’s program inculcates the necessary knowledge for their chosen career paths and also prepares them for their professional life through skills like logical thinking, negotiation, conflict resolution, team management and self management, to name a few. The students not only learn how to navigate interviews and present themselves, but also gain confidence to lead and innovate no matter which path they choose to take.

Conclusion

Habbinson strives to steer the UGC’s Jeevan Kaushal program and the NEP 2020 towards equipping students with life-long skills for personal and professional growth. By integration of life skills training into the higher education curriculum, Habbinson enhances employability and students’ well-rounded development. Students will learn the Habbinson way and become leaders who will contribute meaningfully to society.
